Department of Housing and Urban Development to help homebuyers purchase

foreclosed and abandoned homes in order to stabilize neighborhoods.

Pasco County is using these funds to assist homebuyers with their downpayment and

closing costs so they can get into a safe, decent and standard home.

Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions

Each of the past 5 years, in the week surrounding New Year's, 

Wesley Chapel Florida becomes the center of the universe for pre-collegiate club lacrosse. 

Wesley Chapel plays host to the:

Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions presented by Pasco County

The only TRUE national championship in the sport of lacrosse.

In January 2011, the tournament hosted 79 high school age lacrosse teams from across the country, generating 3,700 hotel nights and an estimated $3 million economic impact for the Wesley Chapel area.

NDP Lacrosse and Pasco County have been in negotiation to continue and grow this great event.

Just this week we had some great news!

NDP Lacrosse announced that it has reached a four-year agreement with Pasco County, FL. to keep the

Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions,

the pre-collegiate club lacrosse national championship, in Wesley Chapel.

The 2012 event will be held Dec. 29-31.

New Years weekend featured "Chamber of Commerce Weather", with Sunny days and temperatures in the high 70's, as Wesley Chapel Florida played host to 80 Lacrosse teams from across the US and Canada for the 6th Annual, Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions.

The Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions presented  by Pasco County (http://www.visitpasco.net/Lacrosse.aspx) is the only TRUE national championship in the sport of lacrosse.

Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions Boys Lacrosse National Championship

The Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions wrapped up with five championship games on Sunday.

FCA reached four championship games and claimed two national titles (Elite and U15 divisions).

I was in the office a few weeks back and got a call from a nice fellow who said he was a writer for CNN/Money working on a story. 

He asked some questions about  Wesley Chapel and the growth we have seen in the past few years. 

We talked about a lot of things, including The Shops at Wiregrass, The Grove at Wesley Chapel, the new Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel, under construction, and the groundbreaking for the Porter Campus of Pasco/Hernando Community College. 

I was happy to talk with him and it is nice to see our community recognized.
